Tour of Portugal

A country rich in history, with castles and charming cities. We highlight the diverse landscapes, from the southern beaches to the northern vineyards, as well as the Madeira and Azores archipelagos. It is a destination chosen for its food because of its varied cuisine and its popular sweets.

8-day / 7-night trip including: flights, taxes, local guide, 3 and 4-star hotels (full board), transfers, visits, entrance fees and Inclusive Insurance.

Travel itinerary:

  • Day 1: MADRID - LISBON
Check-in at the airport two hours before departure for your flight to Lisbon. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free time to enjoy the Portuguese capital. Accommodation.

  • Day 2: LISBON - NAZARÉ - BATALHA - AVEIRO - PORTO
Breakfast. Departure to Nazaré, a picturesque fishing village, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Portuguese coast, where we will have free time. Our next stop will be in Batalha, where we will have free time to admire its monastery, a masterpiece of Manueline Gothic art, considered one of the seven wonders of Portugal. Next stop is at Aveiro, the so-called "Portuguese Venice", because of the canals that run through the city centre. Free time or, if you wish, you can take an optional trip along the canals in the typical "moliceiros", boats that take their name from the seaweed they used to transport in the past, called molico. The old quarter of Beira Mar stands out, where the traditional houses and salt warehouses of the estuary have been preserved. The tiles are other of the city's hallmarks and one can practically read its history through them. They can be found in old fishermen's houses as well as in modern buildings. The next city on the trip is Porto, where you will enjoy the bohemian atmosphere of its streets and the friendliness of its people. Accommodation.

  • Day 3: PORTO
Breakfast. In the morning, we will depart for a guided panoramic tour with a local guide to visit the historic centre, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and some of the city's most emblematic landmarks, such as the Avenida dos Aliados, Lapa Church, and the Cathedral, a Romanesque building from the 12th and 13th centuries, which underwent major renovations in the Baroque period, among others. Rest of the day at leisure. We recommend an optional visit to a Porto wine cellar to enjoy a wine tasting session and a boat trip on the Douro, where we will enjoy the views of the most important bridges: Freixo, Doña María, San Juan, Infante, D. Luis I and La Rábida. Free afternoon during which, if you wish, you can take visit two very important places in the history of Portugal: Guimarães, considered the cradle of Portugal, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will take a panoramic tour; and the Bom Jesus Church in Braga, with its spectacular Baroque staircase, regarded as Portugal’s second most important religious site after Fátima, which we will reach via one of the oldest funiculars in Europe. At the end of the day and back in Porto, we suggest an optional excursion to Gaia, to enjoy a dinner and a fado show and popular dances show, all accompanied by good wine from the region. Accommodation.

  • Day 4: OPORTO - SOLAR MATEUS - COIMBRA
Breakfast. Departure to the interior of the country for a visit to the Solar de Mateus, where the wine of the same name is produced. We will visit this charming baroque palace from the middle of the 18th century surrounded by vineyards and decorated with splendid gardens in which we will see a great variety of exotic species. Our route will continue through the Douro Valley until we reach Coimbra, one of the most important university centres in Europe. Free afternoon. Accommodation.

  • Day 5: COIMBRA - FÁTIMA
Breakfast. Departure for a panoramic tour of the city with a local guide, to visit the upper part of Coimbra or Almedina, where aristocrats, clergy, and later students have lived since the 12th century. We will also visit the courtyards of the university, the Chapel of San Miguel and the Joanina Library. We will continue walking towards the lower part, the area of commerce, artisans and the neighbourhoods along the river. We will then visit Fátima, a town well known in the world for the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children near Iria's Cave on 13 May 1917. Since then, thousands of pilgrims and visitors from all over the world have come to visit the Chapel of Apparitions, built in 1919. Free time to visit this important Marian centre. Accommodation.

  • Day 6: FÁTIMA - TOMAR - ÓBIDOS - LISBON
Breakfast. Departure to Tomar, the city of the Knights Templar, a magical place, full of splendid architecture and of great historical relevance, where we will have the opportunity to visit the Templar castle and the Convent of Christ, declared a World Heritage Site and which will bring us closer to the history of the Knights Templar and to the Portuguese exploration period, considering that Tomar was the home of Henry the Navigator, who promoted explorations to the New World. Our next destination will be Óbidos. We will have free time in this beautiful town full of charm, where strolling through its streets is like going back to legendary times. We can enjoy its medieval castle, now an inn, its walls with beautiful access gates, as well as its picturesque white houses, adorned with blue tiles contrasting with the vivid colours of the flowers decorating their windows. Continuation to Lisbon. Accommodation.
