Travel itinerary:
- Day 1: MADRID - COSTA DE CÁDIZ
It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they arrive at the railway station in time for departure. Lunch is at the customer’s expense. Arrival at Jerez de la Frontera station and transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 2: SANLÚCAR DE BARRAMEDA - VÉJER
Have breakfast, then depart for Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a town famous for its manzanilla wine and located at the mouth of the Guadalquivir, Andalusia's most important river. We'll have the chance to visit its historic centre and will also have some free time to sample Sanlúcar's famous prawns. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll travel along the Atlantic Route and arrive in Vejer de la Frontera. This beautiful town features all the typical architectural elements of Andalusian villages. Cobbled streets, narrow alleyways and colourful courtyards filled with a profusion of plants and flowers. An official guide will accompany us during the visit. We will take a stroll through the walled enclosure, discovering the gates that provide access to the city walls as we go. We will learn about the area's history, crafts, festivals and traditions, and visit monuments such as the castle, the Casa del Mayorazgo (which features Andalusian courtyards) and the watchtower. From the watchtower, we will enjoy wonderful views of Africa. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
- Day 3: OPTIONAL EXCURSION TO BAELO CLAUDIA AND TARIFA
Accommodation at the hotel on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner), with the option of a full-day excursion to Baelo Claudia and Tarifa, with an official guide in Baelo Claudia. We’ll start by visiting the Baelo Claudia Archaeological Site, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in Spain. Free time for lunch (at the client's expense). In the afternoon, visit Tarifa, an important strategic stronghold against pirate raids and a military outpost against English fleets from Gibraltar. Stroll through its historic centre to discover its Islamic heritage.
- Day 4: CÁDIZ
Breakfast, then departure with an official guide to visit Cádiz, known as the ‘Tacita de Plata’, which opens out like a balcony onto the ocean. We’ll start with a sightseeing bus tour, during which we’ll explore both the city and the coast, as well as some of its most iconic monuments and neighbourhoods. We’ll finish at Plaza de Sevilla, from where we’ll set off on our walking tour of the historic centre. We’ll stroll through squares such as San Juan de Dios Square, Mina Square, Las Flores Square, Cathedral Square and Town Hall Square, as well as through main streets and neighbourhoods such as Paseo de Canalejas, Calle Ancha and Pópulo. Free time for lunch (at the customer’s own expense) and to continue exploring this beautiful city. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
- Day 5: JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA - MEDINA SIDONIA
Breakfast, then depart for Jerez de la Frontera, which is internationally renowned for its wines and horses, as well as being a key centre of flamenco. Alternatively, we can visit the Royal Equestrian School to watch the “Dance of the Andalusian Horses”. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we will set off on a tour of Medina Sidonia with an official guide. The town was founded by the Phoenicians and ruled by the Arabs until the Christian conquest by Alfonso X in 1264. We will stroll through the town, discovering the remains and traces of the various civilisations that have shaped its history, such as the Convento de Arriba, the façade of the Priory Church of Santa María Coronada, the Puerta de Belén, the Arco de La Pastora, the Church of Santiago, the Convent of Abajo and the Plaza de España. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
- Day 6: OPTIONAL: WHITE VILLAGES
The hotel offers accommodation on a half-board basis (including breakfast and dinner), with the option of a full-day excursion to the White Villages, with lunch included at a restaurant. We’ll start in Ubrique, the cradle of leather. Next, we will visit Arcos de la Frontera, the most populous and largest town in the Sierra de Cádiz region. This town is built on a rocky outcrop. Its main monuments are clustered around the Plaza del Cabildo at the town's highest point, where the Church of Santa María stands out.
- Day 7: COSTA DE CÁDIZ - MADRID
Breakfast. Return to the starting point.
